The camera view below is of Bogart, Josey, Momma Mia & Madden . They were adopted from Brambley Hedge Rabbit Rescue. You may occassionally see a large black labrador in their area, his name is Sanjuro and they are the best of friends.
Here is our story. Someone didn’t want us anymore and dumped us in a field in Scottsdale, AZ. Being domestic rabbits we can’t survive outside for very long. We hid from cats, hawks and coyotes. We tried to find shade and water. After a few days two of our brothers and sisters didn’t survive the heat. Two others we don’t know what happened to. Luckily a nice lady contacted The Bunny Basics to let them know some of us were hiding in her backyard. Her yard backed up to the field we were dumped in. They came to her house and found two of us. They brought us home and nursed us back to health. The next day she called again and said she saw another one of us. Rick, from The Bunny Basics immediately rushed over and found three more of us in various yards. He went back for the next few days to see if he could find the rest of us but was unable to find the rest of our family. The weekend we were found the temperature was 112 degrees. One of us so was so dehydrated she almost didn’t make it. We are telling you our story in hopes you can help us educate people that we cannot survive outside. We can’t survive temperatures over 80 degrees. We love to be inside as part of the family. We are very social and need to be with our people not stuck outside in a hutch or dumped in a field. Please help us pass on the word that domestic bunnies can’t survive outside. If you know someone who no longer can care for their bunnies please tell them our story and let them know dumping rabbits in the wild is sentencing them to death. Help them to do the responsible thing. Look how cute we are, don’t all bunnies deserve a chance at happiness? Our names are Cartman, Lily, Eli, Samantha and Lucy. Lucy found a wonderful new family and is now in her new happy home!
